TransGaming Inc.

TransGaming Technologies was a Canadian company established in 2001 by Gavriel State. It specialized in developing software to port games to other platforms such Linux, Macintosh, Xbox, PlayStation 2, and PSP. The headquarters were located in Toronto, with offices in Ottawa and Atlanta. TransGaming was especially known for its Cider portability engine that allows PC games to be enabled on Apple's Intel Macs without redevelopment from the ground-up. The engine acts as a wrapper around the PC game dynamically translating PC API calls to the Mac OS X. The company was also involved with multiplatform deployment of interactive entertainment and the distribution of games for Smart TV set-top boxes. On 11th June 2015 NVIDIA Corporation announced the acquisition of TransGaming’s proprietary cross-platform portability technology for $3.75 million, as an enrichment for its GameWorks real-time graphics and simulation for games. NVIDIA also announced to open a new office in Toronto, Canada. The company was officially closed on 12th June 2015. Founder Gavriel State became Senior Director, Simulation and AI at NVIDIA. The interactive and TV entertainment division was moved to the UK company TransGaming Interactive Ltd. established on 9th June 2016 and since 1st September 2017 known as PlayWorks Digital Ltd.
